Mother’s Day at Pinot’s Palette Garland, Texas
by Asja Randell - Owner
May 1, 2019

Oh Mother’s Day, the holiday that always creeps up on me. It seems like March just ended and
April had barely started, and here we are now in May, the Mother’s Day month.

I pride myself in being an excellent gift giver. I watch the person I’m trying to surprise & try to
figure out what their day-to-day life looks like. I then imagine myself in their shoes and think of
what it is as that person that I’m missing. It’s a whole thing. I just love seeing my loved one’s
eyes light up when they open that perfect gift. I feel like I sound a little crazy once I put it in
writing, but oh well, it is what it is.

Back to Mothers day…over the years my gifts to my mom have gone from handmade treats
and cards to flowers, mugs, and scarves once I was old enough to go to the store by myself.
Now that I’m older and my mom has enough mugs to start her own coffee mug franchise I
always struggle to find that one perfect gift. I spend too much time thinking about it, and by the
time I decide, it’s too late to order those cute custom pieces. Maybe you are like me, or maybe
you aren’t and are amazing and you plan ahead of time - fortunately this year we have an
abundance of paintings and projects to choose from. We wanted to make sure we have
something for everybody when scheduling this year's Mother’s Day week (Yes week, you read
it correctly!) If your mom isn’t very much into painting, or she lives far away - you can just come
to one of the classes that week and create a perfect gift for her!). Whether you and your mom
want to relax and create a coffee tray you can use for years to come, or you want to grab your
kids and celebrate with some good ol’ quality time - we got you covered.

  1. Rustic Family Name - Canvas (Wednesday, May 8)

This one is one of my favorite kind of projects. The colors are simple and
beautiful but can be easily changed out for something that goes with your
house more. I’m a big fan of adding teals and blues to my home, and subbing a
color out is the easiest thing for this project because there really are only a few
colors that we will be using. Not only would this be a great painting to bring your
mom to, but also you can come in by yourself (or with your friends) and have a
relaxing night of creating a project for your mom.

  1. Screen Art - Rustic Flowers (Thursday, May 9)

This painting is near and dear to me because it originated from our studio.
The screen paintings are so fun and so different from the other paintings we
do at Pinot’s Palette. You do get brushes and acrylic paints, but you also get
to play with a palette knife and what we call “special sauce”.  When painting
on a screen you get to be more loose with your brushstrokes, which is a great
exercise for all the perfectionists out there. With this one, you get to pick your
own colors if you’d like or leave it as is. We’ve seen some beautiful bouquets
of just peach or yellow colored roses, we’ve seen some pastels, we’ve even
seen other kinds of flowers added. Our artists would be happy to show you
how to add any kind of flowers you might like to.

  1. Flamingo Amore (Friday, May 10)

Oh. My. Goodness! How cute is this flamingo? I’m so in love with this colorful,
beautiful painting! There’s nothing more summery to me than bright-colored
decor, and this Flamingo is perfect for that. This painting is on a 10x30 canvas
making it a fun and easy way to decorate! Like many people these days I have
more of an open concept home, so there are not very many walls I get to
decorate. I love the 10x30 canvases because there’s always a space I can find
for them, and they look great in my kitchen and on my fireplace for seasonal decor.

This painting can be as small as just one canvas (12x12) or as big as you want it to
be. Every painter gets to paint their own part of the tree and their own little owl.
Once done the paintings can all be hung together to create a family portrait. Kids
of any age are welcome, and I just cannot wait to see the fun accessories painters
will be adding. My money is on sunglasses, bows, and flower crowns!

  1. Project Pet (Saturday, May 11)

Whether you have a cat, a dog, a rooster, or any other animal out there -
this painting is a great way to create a memorable painting for yourself or a
loved one. You send in a photo, we transfer it to a canvas for you and walk
you through tips and tricks of painting your pet. Think grown-up
paint-by-numbers.

  1. Morning in Bloom (Saturday, May 11)

This painting is one of my new favorites. It combines the joyful colors of
spring, a sun, and it has a Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom flare to it. The
background color can, of course, be easily changed if you are looking to
decorate a specific area in your home. I love the yellows and reds though.

So exciting. We’re doing our first (of what will probably be
many) tray classes. I love functional art and gifts that I can
put to use. This tray will be ready to be used right after the
class. If painted as a girt, I think it would be so cute to add
a little phrase to it. “I love you” in one of the corners, or
“good morning, beautiful” across the top. You can, of course,
make up your own saying and add it anywhere you would like
to, or just leave the painting as is, because it has such a
beautiful clean design.

  1. Floral Delight  (Sunday, May 12)

Ah, last, but not least, the Floral Delight. This is a relatively new
painting, we haven’t yet painted it at the studio, and once we saw it
we thought it was Mother’s Day perfection. Flower paintings are
simply timeless, and this one is no exception. The colors are bright
and beautiful and would be a great addition to any room.

There are so many fun paintings we have scheduled this Mother’s Day week, but you can join
us for any of the upcoming classes. Whether you’re bringing your kids, your mom, your friends,
or are coming by yourself for some well-needed quality time - we’d love to paint with you.
